Bank Speakers Toastmaster Club.jpg

The Bank Speakers Toastmaster Club has now been running since November 2007. In the scheme of London Toastmasters Clubs we are small....but we are also a very successful club!

At just over two years old we are starting to see several members complete their initial ten speeches required to become Competent Communicators. Within the club we like to always celebrate these achievements with a nice bottle of New Zealand wine!

We are also a successful club on the London competition scene; interestingly we do very well at impromptu and humorous speaking....maybe its a Kiwi thing?

In the last two years we have had representatives at the London District Humorous Speech competition and last year we also competed in the Table Topics competition (tables topics are impromptu speeches).

These people were not especially polished or experienced speakers – they have started from day one and worked their way through the practise speeches. What you can notice from Toastmasters is an almost immediate improvement in your public speaking skills.

Toastmasters also helps improve your leadership skills – such as becoming a better listener and providing constructive feedback. While the majority of our members are originally from New Zealand we are an open club and have members originating from the UK and Europe, with our most exotic member hailing from Costa Rica.

Annually we hold an open evening in conjunction with NZICA. This year’s evening will be held on June 3rd, and more information will be available in the NZICA newsletter soon.
